We thrifted some amazing pieces and made them into new garments! And in this episode, we reveal them to each other for the first time. We talk about where we thrifted our materials, what we transformed them into, and the sewing techniques that made it all possible.

This was a great episode. I love both the blouse and jeans. You both could totally wear these outfits out in public. I have been thrifting my closet. I had several pairs of pants with darts, zipper, and faced waist when I was working and now in retirement, I only want pull on pants. I have removed the darts and zipper, but I need to increase at the waist and hip. Two of them, I had leftover fabric from when I made them, so I could insert gussets at the side seams and cut a waist band casing. But some of the pants I don’t have any left over fabric, so I’m looking for ideas for adding to the side seams, so this episode was especially interesting to me.
That’s fabulous, Judy! Congrats on your retirement and enjoy your comfy pants. For the ones where you don’t have the original fabric, how about a fabric that is similar to the original in composition and weight, but in a coordinating colour? You could make the gussets curved to make them look a little more design-y and intentional. Or you could just get as close a match as possible and wear them with longer tops.
Those are so unbelievably cool! I listened to the episode first and tried to imagine what they would look like but they are even more amazing than I imagined! Would be tempted to sew either of these but never would of thought that before. Well done 😀
Thank you so much, Romy! There are a lot of cool upcycling ideas on Pinterest – that’s where I got the idea for the jeans.
