You CAN build that small house AND sew.. just build a SHE-SHED in the middle of the flower garden/veg garden. I saw the perfect small house in the backyard as an inlaw/baba house on acreage with a detached SHE-SHED. It was purrrrrfect.(still waiting for mine back acerage of my daughters in Ontario..I’ve been researching this to death) The small house I toured was made out of a 40ft shipping container. The shed was actually fancier than the main small house. With a bar fridge, micro, small stone walkout patio with a swing chair hanging from a big tree. It was heartbreaking to leave it. THAT sheshed was my dream home away from home. Everyone needs one

Brilliant episode on overlockers (yes Im English!!) I have been long-term loaned a machine, and jumped straight into it, not really knowing what all the buttons are for, the feed dog differential blew my mind!! I have the brother 1034d 😊

Yes – would love a podcast on overstitch machines!

I have a five thread overlock. I think that is most common with the combo cover stitch machines since you need the chain looper for cover stitch and the five thread stitch. The five thread stitch uses two needles, the upper looper, lower looper, and chain looper. It is stitching a chain stitch with the left needle and a three thread overlock with the right needle. My machine can also do a chain stitch, but unlike the chain stitches you see in toy sewing machines it uses two threads. It does unravel just as easily.

I have no trouble using my serger, but for some reason the chain looper gives me grief and I’ve never gotten it to ew a nice cover stitch.

Thanks SO much for this great episode! I recently got a shiny new Bernina L450 serger/overlocker (it was super discounted with my dream purchase of a B570QE sewing machine – yay!) and I very much appreciate all your valuable insider tips and ideas about using a serger. Absolutely love Love to Sew! – y’all never disappoint and always delight! <3
