I’m border-line plus size but I am petite with a large bust and have struggled with tops since the 5th grade (when I started wearing a bra and I was so embarrassed you could see it thru the armholes of my favorite sleeveless top). I have not owned a woven top in years and the ones I have owned, were very uncomfortable (don’t lift your arms! keep those buttons from gaping!) I have now made 2 comfortable woven tops on my sewing journey and last weekend I completed my very first button down and let me tell you, when I wear it, I feel like a million bucks! There is no gaping in front, I can lift my arms, the length and sleeves are not too long, there are no bulky front pockets and I still have a defined waist. It wasn’t me that was the problem, it was the garment! I thought this style was something I just couldn’t wear, but from the encouragement of you ladies and this community, I gave it a shot. Thank you for the positivity, fun and tips you bring us every week. My sewing journey has truly changed how I see myself. I’m a devoted fan, but I’ve got to run now so my button up shirt and I can take on the world!
Wow, Kristin! What a huge break-through with your sewing! We love that you were able to use your skills to make a button-up that works for you! We bet it looks so beautiful on you 😍 Thank you so much for sharing your story with us and for listening to the show!
