This week we are tackling feelings of guilt around NOT sewing all the things and how we can give ourselves grace in our sewing practice. You don’t have to make everything by hand and we can be extra hard on ourselves sometimes for shopping or not making time to sew. We chat about how life is busy and sewing is meant to be a relaxing, creative practice, let’s try to keep it that way!

Another amazing podcast and what synchronicity for me 🙂 I was at Costco this morning and they had my favourite pull-on jeggings (Nygard) that always fit me perfectly. I bought 2 pair and felt horribly guilty since I WAS planning to get to finally make a pair (I have the Eleanor pattern by Jalie). When I arrived home my jeggings fabric from L’Oiseau arrived compounding EEK… but then I listened to your podcast and felt SO much better :)) Thank you for that from the bottom of my heart!
Awwww, thanks, Kathleen! We are so happy that we were able to relieve some of that sewing guilt! I’m sure you will make amazing leggings, and in the meantime, you’ve got leggings to wear while you sew! Win-win.
Omg I also get so over whelmed sometimes I just end up going for a bike ride lol! And I also totally feel bad whenever I buy ready to wear that isn’t thrifted.
At least you are getting exercise! Hopefully this episode helped you to feel better about your purchases, it’s OK to buy sometimes! <3
Watson Undie pattern link?? I’m curious as I’ve made a pair of cheeky lace and want to learn more.
doh, nm found it.

We hope you try it! We both love that pattern so much <3
I really love this choice of topic! When I go into a store I often think ‘I can make that,’ and even though I know I can, sometimes I can’t find the right fabric weight or drape, or I don’t have the time or inclination. It has certainly taken me time to accept the fact that just because I can make something, it does not mean I should. I do feel a tinge of guilt when I look at a fabric waiting to be cut, but I just take it one project at a time. I also focus on making what I enjoy, and buying what I enjoy too!
Thanks Ligi!
We are glad you liked the topic. It’s so true that just because you can, doesnt mean you have to! Always focus your sewing efforts on something you want to spend time making. <3
I totally think it’s ok to buy sometimes, why should I feel bad? Sewing is life but I definitely do buy things I love
