Hey Ladies,
It was another great episode! And thank you for the discount code! I am browsing through Tessuti’s patterns and noticed that in some of the patterns, they require tear-away Vilene. I also live in Vancouver, Canada and have never heard of what Vilene is. Do you guys have any suggestions on what I can substitute this with?
Thanks,
Janice
Thanks Janice! We have not tried Vilene, but understand that is is a papery interfacing that does not fuse. We have also heard that swedish tracing paper can be used as a substitute. Hope that helps!
The tear-away Vilene is not necessary – it’s just a quirky Tessuti pattern thing. Just stay stitch and you will be fine. The first time I made a Tessuti pattern I messed around with it then realised, from talking to sewing friends, that everyone just ignores the tear-away vilene part of Tessuti patterns.
So true! I (Helen) have always ignored that part too! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Love the Tessuti podcast. I stalk the website! The fabrics are so beautiful, but living in the US makes them very expensive! I love the patterns, I will be ordering the Bondi, Lois & Sadie. Thanks again for putting a face & voice to Tessuti.
It was our pleasure! Thanks for listening 🙂
Tessuti patterns continue to be my very favourite. I recommend them for all new sewers, because you really can work through them independently. Also.. they rarely seem to have zips! Zips in dresses are my least favourite things.
Hi Bea! Tessuti patterns are great – we love zipper-free patterns, too. Thanks so much for listening!
