FYI, Pants for Real People also has info on fitting men. It’s the best book on pants.

    What a fun episode!
I grew up sewing at home, taught by my mum – a home-etc teacher. 😉 I sewed all commercial tissue patterns, mainly McCalls. I now normally sew indie but this was like a “blast from the past” for me!
Keep up the fantastic podcasts ladies!

      Thank you Erin! 🙂

I usually trace the pattern onto tracing paper or medical paper (which is much cheaper than artist’s tracing paper), being careful to transfer all the markings from the original pattern onto the tracing paper or medical paper.

I do this because 1) if it’s a vintage pattern, I don’t want to cut it and 2) if I gain or lose weight, I have preserved all the sizing options.

I imagine that the tissue fitting method works just as well with tracing paper, correct?

    1. Helen Wilkinson & Caroline Somos says:

Hi Kristina! That’s a great tip about medical paper. Yes, the tissue fitting method should work fine with tracing paper! Thanks for your thoughtful comment and question.
