Hey you guys,
I just thought I would drop this here, do you know Harriet from Hobbling Handmade?
She recentliy launched a new blog called the clothing care co (https://clothingcareco.com/). There she talks abut verythng t do with caring about clothes (especially hand made garments), how to mend stuff, how to wash, fold and sore items and what deturgents to use.
So for anyone who is looking for a resource on that sort of thing!
Thanks for bringing us this wonderfull podcast!
Oh and by the way it would also be great if you could bring Harriet on to the podcast as she is such a nice and lovely young ‘sewist’.
Lots of love from Stuttgart (Germany)
Anna
Hi Anna, thanks very much for sharing!
Hi Helen and Caroline!
Thanks for this episode – i thought I knew a fair bit about fabric, but i learned a lot!
I have a question – where does viscose fit in in the man-made or natural fibre categories?
I have heard the terms viscose and rayon being used interchangeably… but also as different materials. Are they the same thing?
Love the show, always brightens up my Tuesdays to see a new episode and I save them to until the end of the day to listen to on my commute home 🙂
Thanks, Anna
Hi Anna! Viscose and rayon are used interchangeably in the industry and according to my experience/research, they are essentially the same.
Thanks so much for listening!
I am just finding you guys. My favorite story about handmades is Everyday Use by Alice Walker. It is a great story. http://xroads.virginia.edu/~ug97/quilt/walker.html
Love the podcast, which I recently discovered, and I am listening through the old episodes. My favorite online fabric store is EmmaOneSock run by Linda Podietz. Everything I have bought there has been fantastic quality and quite out of the ordinary. From the about page:
Located just outside of Philadelphia, PA, EmmaOneSock.com strives to provide you with a steady supply of fashionable, upscale fabrics from some of the finest designers and manufacturers from around the world.
Thanks so much for sharing, Dorothy! We are so happy you found us! We hope you continue to enjoy the newer episodes 🙂
